Arcturas Intergalaxial Contractor, Inc., is a fledgling company operating out of the Arcturas binary star system. Their introductory line includes two models, the first of which is the Arcturas Lemming.

At first appearance, the Arcturas Lemming looks like any other fighter, save its radical styling. But once you get inside, the Lemming quickly becomes distinguished from any starfighter known to the Federation.

Seating one person in an oversized cockpit, the Lemming feels much larger than other single-seat fighters. The contol panel is huge, well-designed, and easily reconfigured as desired by the pilot.

Utelizing dual IP-4000 fusion generators, each tied to one Tolstoy series-VI sublight engine, the Lemming acheives a respectable sublight speed of .9993c. Maneuverability is excellent, with the sublight engines spaced far apart and angled as to provide maximum thrust.

Arcturian natives are not known for their honesty; as such, before Amicus Corporation applied patents to its R-FIT lightspeed drive, Arcturas IC 'borrowed' the design, modified it slightly, and fitted it to the Lemming. Their limited knowledge of the Amican technology is apparent in the Lemming's design; in order to acheive the maximum velocity of TWf 13, the R-FIT unit is constantly working over capacity to process and disperse gasses brought in by the Lemming's monsterous twin intake grates.

In addition, as an attempt to reduce thermal heat patterns inherent to R-FIT drives, the Lemming has an exhaust grid with thousands of micro-millimeter heat dispersion ports. However, the total volume of exhaust gasses is reduced, which causes the Lemming's R-FIT assembly to frequently overheat and require constant maintenance.

Despite its apparent short-comings as far as propulsion, the fighter's tactical systems are more than adaquate. Most notably, the Lemming features four fixed-forward GLG-28 disruptors mounted vertically in sets of two on either side of the cockpit canopy. While lacking the sheer speed of the GLG-27y1, the GLG-28 is somewhat more powerful, and has a slightly longer range. Also in the Lemming's arsenal are dual forward Neutronium series-IV torpedo tubes, with a capacity of six torpedoes.

The Lemming's main liability is the lack of decent aft-firing weaponry; four type-XX phaser arrays help to offset this somewhat, but even so, the Lemming is most vulnerable from the rear.

The Lemming's only defensive system is an interlinked set of four dual-metaphasic shield generators. While this may appear to make the interceptor rather vulnerable, the interlinking system is one of a kind - if any one or two shield generators fail, the computer will automatically compensate using the remaining generators, retaining up to 75% of the Lemming's shield integrity with two generators offline.

The Lemming is an interesting mix of technology; the combination of Amican drive systems with Arcturian software certainly creates some awkward situations when the software link breaks down and the systems refuse to talk to one another. But, despite its short-comings, the Arcturas Lemming is an above-average ship. Hopefully it will survive after Amicus, Inc is through with its legal actions against Arcturas Intergalaxial Contractors.
