Star Trek-Smiley
Episode synopsis
Episode one-The Smell of Fear
The USS Smiley
finds itself, on its maiden voyage, in a terrifying face-to-face confrontation with
a Romulan Scout Ship. The Smiley
ultimately prevails, with some help from the EHB Stenos.
Episode two-Falling Down
A mutiny on the Smiley
sends Captain Stewart on a crucial mission to regain command of his ship. This episode
introduces Ensign Dan Ryan, the permanent replacement of the previous tactical officer.
Episode three-Good Losers
During an uneventful period of time, Starfleet decides to hold a fleet-wide series
of war drills. However, the Klingons have decided to sabotage the drill by planting
gravitic mines, among other things. Luckily, a Federation spy on the Klingon Homeworld
has gotten wind of the plan. Unfortunately, only the Smiley
is not participating in the drill. But Ian Stewart saves the day by eliminating the
threat.
Episode four-Cloud Nine
An energy cloud suddenly appears and the Smiley
is sucked into a parallel dimension, where the Romulan Empire is the dominant power,
and the Federation is nothing more but a memory which died over 100 years ago. The
ship avoids getting blown away by an elite force of new Romulan ships long enough
to find the cloud and get back home.
Episode five-'I, Surrender'
When the Smiley
ventures too far into what is apparently Borg space, the crew, save captain Stewart,
are abducted from the ship by an unseen force, which later turns out to be the new
breed of Borg. Stewart is left with the choice to leave his crew with the Borg to
whatever fate becomes them, or to try and get them back. He plays it safe by choosing the
former. This episode introduced Hugh of Borg as the Smiley's
first officer.
Episode six-Court Martial
A sequel-of-sorts to 'I, Surrender'
, Stewart is put on the defendant's chair for leaving his crew to the Borg. Luckily,
he is found not guilty and returned to duty, with only a formal reprimand on his
permanent record.
Episode seven-Core Breach
When the Smiley
travels into an electromagnetic field, the Warp Core's containment fails. But rather
than reducing the ship and crew to subatomic matter, they are thrown into the past
where they encounter the Vulcans as a technologically primitive race with very powerful
emotions. Ian finds the secret to returning back home-breach the core once again,
not too difficult for the crew.
Episode eight-The Ferengi Maneuver
The Ferengi attack the USS Smiley
and take the captain aboard. But the crew retrieve the captain and destroy the intruding
Ferengi vessel.
Episode nine-And Then Some
The Smiley
tests a new weapon designed for the new Voyager-class Enterprise
. However, Stewart gets more than he bargained for, and 'accidentally' destroys two
Federation outposts and the USS Miranda.
The weapon is taken away from him and reinstalled on the Stenos.
Episode ten-Friendly Fins
Commander Hwiii from the Stenos is assigned temporary command of the Smiley
for a crucial first-contact mission. However, the Romulans intercept the dolphin
on his way to the Smiley,
and a full-scale search-and-destroy mission is launched jointly by the Smiley
and the Stenos.
Hwiii is later found, his wounds are healed, and the first-contact mission is a
success.
Episode eleven-Taste the Sauce
The crew of the Smiley
discover a strange, fish-like race who call themselves the Orz. Stewart asks too
many questions and they attack, taking the captain into their custody. Thankfully,
the Smiley
is able to retrieve her captain and fend off the attacking vessels.
Episode twelve-Few & Far Between
Q appears, puts the crew of the Smiley
on trial, this time to answer for the mistakes of humanity, and as a punishment
hurtles the ship 70 light years away from the furthest Federation Starbase, a voyage
that at the Smiley's
maximum sustainable warp speed would take a month to travel. Q is however unforgiving,
forcing the crew to travel the long journey.
Episode thirteen-Roasted Weenies
Stewart orders planetfall on Risa, for a little R&R before their next assignment.
Unknown to them, the planet is dotted with enemy saboteurs who blow up the complex
where the crew are staying. It is only Stewart who survives and must bring the criminals
to justice.
Episode fourteen-The Derelict
The third Smiley
crew discover an ancient ship of massive proportions-easily larger than a Borg vessel.
Upon beaming down, they find a perfectly preserved interior with thousands of meters
of equipment, living space, and technology. But then suddenly the ship comes to life, and the remaining crew pilot the Smiley
in a speedy pursuit to rescue them. The chase twists through fourteen star systems
before the crew are beamed back and the derelict ship is crushed from the deceleration
force.
