Storyline idea:

Well, first things first. We arrive in the new universe in 2409, I give birth down on the planet, yay. We get attacked by the Akula nearly instantly upon setting foot on Terra. We're overtaken and are forced to evacuate the Draconid and blow it up. Stuck.

On the planet that we're now forced to colonize whether we like it or not (we probably would have anyway since there's no sentient life around), we find ruins of an advanced civilization (roughtly 2050-year humans) which was destroyed some 400 years previous. Oddly there are no fossils or traces of the race itself, but many other species on the planet of prehistoric life, such as Icthysaurs and other assorted dinos. No real big predator species.

So, so far we know a few things. First, this planet was inhabited 400 years ago by a species comperable in technology to mid-21st century humans. Second, the civilization was wiped out around 400 years ago rapidly and planetwide by some kind of orbital bombardment. Third, there are no traces or hints as to what the species looked like, or who destroyed them, or why. We only know it happened. This information becomes vital later on.

Anyway, so we make alliances and set up our new lives on this planet. Constantly we are at war with the Akula/Leiyruntolan, Tak, Shiba-Inu, and R'tori. We continue to advance and have numerous battles here and there. It goes on for about six years before the story takes place.

In 2415, there is a large battle around Terra. A Shark class vessel named the Calypso is one of the ships in the battle, crewed by a male Selkie named Captain Dahrkei, and a hermaphrodite Draconid named Ragnfrid. They aren't mates or anything of the like (yet), but they are friends.

Well, the Calypso goes back in time. It's due to a malfunction of the Quantum Probability Hyperdrive, which they were told not to use except in extreme emergencies, and it turns out they need it. So they use it, it fries the engines, sends them over 400 years back in time to 2002 (or so), and causes them to crash-land on Terra. (Keep in mind the dates in the past will most likely differ from our system of dating. I keep using ours to keep things in perspective).

So with their ship fried and no hope for immediate repairs, the Selkie and Draconid set out on adventures that last something like 15 years. There are a few glaring details I need to document here, however.

The first of course is the race who in havited this planet long ago. They're known as the Solians, and they're an evolution of raptors into humanoid creatures. There are some sub-species of Soilans, distinguised by the patterns of color on their bodies. Individual Solians are distinguishable by their colors.

One of the major characters in this story is a Solian herself. Her name is Evana, and she comes across the ship at the precocious age of 8 sometime within the first days/weeks of their stay. They become fast friends, and she later on moves in with the two at the age of 16. More on her later.

The next noteworthy thing is that Dahrkei and Ragnfrid both notice that much of the advanced technology that could be applied to tactical use is in posession of the Akula in the future. This begins to fill in the puzzle, as they're now pretty sure they know who destroyed the Solians, and that it will happen in the next couple of decades, but they're still not sure why. None of the technology they've seen is particularly advanced, mostly in the way of backup systems they've seen on captured Akula vessels. Nothing that would warrant a threat, at least. Curious.

Someone might wonder how a Draconid and a Selkie are going to remain inconspicous in a world dominated by Solians. Well, they devise a pretty cool plan within a couple days of being around there. Something like a holographic manifestation of a Solian provided from an armband type of transmitter. It makes them look and feel Solian, but of course it can be deactivated. Ragnfrid appears male initially, which presents problems later on.

Well, by two months into the story, they're pretty certain they're going to be stuck here for a very long time. So, the Selkie and Draconid become very close, and eventually they decide it's worth it to have some nice sex and some kids if it so happens. Well, it does, and the Selkie impregnates the Draconid and six months later, Ragnfrid lays two eggs. They later hatch to become Meletios and Eirene, their hermaphrodite and female offspring, respectively. They resemble a Draconid with webbed fingers, light seal fur, and other vestigal features of Dahrkei, like his nipples. As said previously, this creates problems for the hermaphroditic Draconid, since he appears male as a Solian and he will be quite pregnant. As it were, they have to adjust the image to make hir appear female later on, and remains as such.

Well, before I forget I'm going to talk about the ending quick. Eventually they get the core back online 15 years later around 2017. Ragnfrid is in the process of activating it when suddenly Dahrkei realizes the terrible truth: It is they who cause the Akula attack. The signature of their QPH drive is picked up almost instantly by the Akula who have their eyes on the Solian homeworld, and are perceived as a threat since they appear to have advanced technology. Dahrkei is too late in warning his mate, because once the startup sequence is begun it cannot be shut down.

Chaos ensues. They have to find Evana (who was at a party the night before, got laid, got pregnant, etc.). They find her at the last moment, are running for the ship while the Akula attack commenses and Dahrkei is killed moments from getting aboard.
Sad story. But in the end, the others escape with the four eggs growing in Evana's belly, which lead the way to the re-population of the Solian species. Yayfun! =P
